S4P Fund: Powering Education with Solidarity – Solar Energy for Cuba

Friday, 24. April 2026 10:00

Cuba is currently facing a severe and persistent energy crisis, marked by frequent power outages that disrupt education, research, and daily life. These challenges are significantly intensified by the long-standing economic blockade imposed by the United States, which restricts access to essential technologies, spare parts, and international financial systems. Recent political developments and renewed threats of tightening this blockade further increase the pressure on the country’s infrastructure and scientific institutions.

In this context, Science4Peace is launching a donation campaign to support the installation of a photovoltaic system with battery storage at the Physics Faculty of the University of Havana. This system is designed to ensure the continuous operation of critical infrastructure, such as the server room, and to maintain minimal teaching capacity even during grid failures .

The total funding target for this project is approximately 6,000 USD, covering solar modules, battery storage, and essential system components. With this relatively modest investment, a robust, sustainable, and locally independent energy solution can be realized.

By contributing, you help safeguard access to knowledge, enable continuity in scientific work, and support a concrete, scalable response to structural energy insecurity.

Science thrives on collaboration—this is an opportunity to exercise that principle through practical solidarity.
