People in Gaza are facing an unbelievable humanitarian catastrophe, where food and aid support is hindered, leading to hunger and starvation to death, according to Oxfam. The situation in Westbank and Lebanon is also dramatic. The United Nations UNRWA organization is providing health care, food distribution and education in the region.

On Oct 28, 2024, the Israeli parliament voted to ban UNWRA which operates in Israel according to a 1967 treaty, from conducting “any activity” or providing any service inside Israel, including the areas of annexed East Jerusalem, Gaza and the West Bank. 

The Science4Peace Forum joins and supports the protest of the UN security council against this ban, as UNWRA is the only organization that can serve Palestinians in need of necessary life-saving humanitarian assistance.

It is absolutely essential, that the basic humanitarian supply is delivered, and people are protected from starvation. It is also absolutely necessary, that the educational system of schools and teachers, which UNWRA organized, is continued, if a future to the Palestinian young people is to be given. 

The Science4Peace Forum is shocked, that these very basic humanitarian support is banned, and urges the Israeli Parliament to revise this decision.
