Science4Peace: DESY and military research ?

At an employees meeting on June 17 the DESY directorate started a discussion on military research at DESY.

This announcement was shocking for many, as it would break with the 65 year old tradition to perform research for civil and peaceful purposes only. This move follows recommendations from the ministry and an expert commission "research and innovation" to remove the strict divide between civil and military research.
