Science4Peace: Against the opening civil research facilities for military projects - contributions to a discussion at DESY

The announcement to start a discussion at DESY on opening civil research facilities for military projects came as a shock. However, this announcement follows the discussion outlined in a Position Paper of the German Ministry, as well as a White Paper  of the EU commission.

It is time to critically discuss such attempts and assess their impact, from both the ethical and the practical perspectives, also in view of a potential shift in perception of what is permissible and what is decent.

The Science4Peace Forum organizes a panel discussion on this topic, also to collect arguments for keeping the purely civil mandate of public universities and research institutions.
